Children’s Dentistry in San Antonio

We love working with children at TPC Dental Care!

Kids can begin their dental care with Dr. Pascal around age one and should continue to visit their San Antonio dentist every six months, just like their parents.

We spend our first visits helping your little one feel comfortable in the dental chair and excited about their smile by counting their teeth. Then, we’ll add cleanings to their preventive appointments as they get older, more baby teeth arrive, and they feel comfortable and acclimated to visiting the dentist.

Educating parents about home care and their child’s oral health is also essential in first dental visits. We talk with parents about their concerns and answer their questions about their little one’s dental health.

Why Are Baby Teeth So Important?

Many parents wonder why we spend so much time caring for baby teeth that will fall out in the future. The truth is baby teeth have several important jobs to complete before they fall out, and they’re an integral part of your little one’s oral development.

  • Baby teeth hold space for incoming adult teeth
  • Baby teeth introduce your child to solid foods
  • Baby teeth help your little one form their first words

It’s exciting when your baby’s first teeth begin to arrive! If your child loses one of their baby teeth too soon, it can significantly impact their dental health.

Personalized Dental Care for Adults

Dr. Pascal and his team understand that no two smiles are alike and everyone has unique needs for dental care. This is why we take a personalized approach to dentistry and tailor each patient’s treatment plan to their own specific goals and needs.

Whether you’re looking to maintain your healthy smile from now into retirement or you have teeth to repair or replace, our team can help you reach your smile goals without breaking your budget.

We’re Accepting New Patients!

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Cesar Pascal and his team welcome children and patients of all ages, making it simple and convenient for families to get the dental care they need without running all over town.

Children can begin their dental journies with us around age one or as soon as their first baby teeth arrive. While this may seem early, it's never too soon to start building a relationship with your children's dentist in San Antonio so you can begin to monitor your child's dental health.

Children should continue to have consistent exams with their dentist every six months like their parents. As your little one matures, we'll begin to incorporate teeth cleanings into their preventive care, but we'll never do any procedure that your child doesn't feel ready for.

We're prepared and well-equipped to provide support for your child as they grow, and Dr. Pascal may recommend procedures like fluoride treatment or dental sealants to protect their teeth from tooth decay and cavities.

Many patients wonder if the radiation they receive from dental x-rays is harmful. The answer is no.

Modern digital x-rays emit 90 percent less radiation than traditional films taken in the past. This means you actually receive more radiation from the sun outside on a sunny day, making dental x-rays extremely safe.

Dental x-rays also play an integral role in helping Dr. Pascal diagnose his patients properly because they allow an internal view that is not available to the naked eye. This allows early diagnosis of problems like gum disease, tooth decay, and dental cysts.

X-rays are also helpful in planning procedures like dental implant placement, root canal treatment, and tooth extraction. Dr. Pascal may also take an x-ray of a specific tooth for diagnosis when a patient is experiencing pain or a dental emergency.

We recommend one set of bitewing x-rays be taken each year as a baseline for your dental health. In addition, one panoramic x-ray that gives a complete view of your teeth and jawbone should be updated every five years.

Family Dentistry Technology

VELscope

VELscope uses a special blue light to pinpoint areas of concern that could be early oral cancer. The sooner we can spot oral cancer, the better your chances are of successful treatment and a favorable prognosis.

VELscope is a helpful addition to the visual examination that Dr. Pascal provides at every preventive checkup.

Intraoral Camera

Our intraoral camera gives you an inside look at precisely what Dr. Pascal sees when he examines your teeth and mouth. Full-color pictures of your teeth make it easier to understand why specific treatment procedures are necessary. In addition, they can help you decide what's best for your smile.

Panoramic X-Ray

A panoramic x-ray provides a complete view of your teeth and jawbone. This is useful for planning wisdom teeth extraction, implant dentistry, orthodontic treatment, and diagnosing other concerns.
